In this metaphoric drama, a mediocre boxer struggles with challenges
that threaten to deliver the most devastating blow of all: abandonment
of his dreams.
His father and manager (played by former
heavyweight boxing great, Gerry Cooney) once told him: "It
takes a brave man to step into the boxing ring once
and you
gotta be crazy to step in their twice."
Yet amateur boxer "Razor Ray"
Netti remains determined to turn pro someday - and see all his
hard work and sacrifices pay off when he wins that big title fight.
Ray's mettle and resolve to achieve his
someday-dream, however, are challenged by formidable contenders
from everyday realities: mounting tension with his wife as bills
continue to mount; the terminal illness of his supportive mother;
and a berating boss at his dead-end job.
It's Ray's next big match - and hope runs
high for his big break. But a brutal blow finds him struggling
hard to return to his feet. Facing down his shadows of doubt,
Ray discovers his greatest opponent is himself.
